Although there is little technical development in the field of e-readers, the devices remain particularly popular with avid readers. Long articles and books read yet more pleasant on an e-ink screen than on a backlit LCD, for example, a smartphone. The Amazon Kindle Oasis has to offer the ultimate in reading, but can be affected deeply to the pouch.
Special
The Oasis is specially designed also for e-reader. It is a very flat device, with a thickening on the right-hand side. Thus the reader is not only more comfortable to hold, but “thinner” section also links seamlessly with the included envelope. Which ensures that the reader itself on and off when your ‘book’ pops open, but also includes a portion of the battery. The Oasis itself has a battery that is smaller than standard, but with the cover you need to forward months on a charge according to Amazon.
Buttons
An improvement over previous Kindles is the addition of physical buttons to scroll. Of course it is still possible to do it by touching the screen. In contrast to most readers, the Oasis has a capacitive touch screen, protected by a glass slide. The screen is not lower than the edge, as with most e-readers. The capacitive layer makes the contrast a bit lower, but it is in our opinion not disturbing.
Pricey
In addition, the specifications of the Oasis are similar to those of the top models who have some time to market, including Amazon’s own Paperwhite. That means the screen has a high sharpness (300 ppi) and 16 shades of gray. The “flicker effect” is avoided as much as possible, but is still present. The Oasis is on sale from 290 Euros, the version with 3G will cost another 60 euros more. That makes it one of the most expensive readers that you can buy.
Conclusion
Very nice e-reader, but the price just for the fans.
Pros:
case with integrated battery, scroll buttons, capacitive screen
Negatives:.
expensive, very expensive.
RRP: € 289.99 (Wi-Fi) / € 349.99 (3G + wiFi)
