Amazon has launched two new Kindle tablets, with the fastest processors, the best screen and the longest battery life of the current market. At particularly low prices.
The third version of the Kindle comes in two sizes, 7 and 8.9 inches, with the same hardware on board: a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, 2GB RAM and a screen with 339 pixels per inch. That is, a faster processor than Googles Nexus 7 and a better screen than Apple’s retina display. And to control all this, Amazon are adapted version of Android so far that they who have given their own name but: Fire OS 3.0, nicknamed “Mojito”
.
Mojito focuses as much as possible processor capacity on the task, and succeeds well in: everything goes smoothly on a Kindle Fire HDX, according to people who have had one in hands. The battery keeps taking the full 11 hours, 17 hours if you only read e-books. The OS is of course fully equipped to sell them, and other content from Amazon, according to the company makes no profit on the hardware. And Amazon not only sells books: games and video on demand are important pillars of the empire. In a direct competitor to Netflix Amazon targeted action is part of its catalog available to download and view offline (within 48 hours, though).
also for business
Earlier versions of the Kindle were also popular among business users and the tablets have been restated accordingly. The email app is improved, and VPN hardware encryption and Kerberos authentication will make the Kindle more useful in business. And less for business customers is a helpdesk available – called Mayday – where real people take over the tablet and things may designate
on the screen.
All this at prices that Googles Nexus barely can match, let alone the iPad. The 7-inch version costs $ 239 in the U.S., the 8.9 inch big brother is sold for $ 379. 4G costs $ 100 extra. Along with these two tablets Amazon has announced a slightly upgraded version of the Kindle Fire HD, which will be sold at the floor price of $ 139. When the devices in the Netherlands, are on the market, is still not known.
