Worlds Kindle, Amazon Publishing’s new program That lets authors sell fan fiction based on properties like Gossip Girl and Vampire Diaries , is now open for business. As of Thursday, the Kindle store Worlds has 58 works for sale, and writers can now submit Their own stories for publication. The idea of ??the program is That it lets writers riff on properties they like without worrying about legal hassles.
As I reported previously, submit ting a work to Kindle Worlds Is not the same as publishing it through KDP. Amazon Publishing Retains the rights to works published through Kindle Worlds and Their sets prices. Kindle Worlds usefull will not publish all of the works Submitted to it, though the company says it AIMS to accept as many as possible as long as they adhere to content guidelines.
Kindle fan fiction authors Worlds pays a royalty of 35 percent for works of at least 10,000 words, and a royalty of 20 percent on works between 5,000 and 10,000 words. The authors of the original properties usefull get royalties, but Amazon will not Disclose how much those are.
Since announcing Kindle Worlds in May with three Alloy Entertainment properties – Gossip Girl , Pretty Little Liars and Vampire Diaries – Amazon has added a few more licensed properties: Several brands from Valiant Entertainment comic books, as well as works by Hugh Howey, Barry Eisler, Neal Stephenson and Blake Crouch
