Review: Kindle Paperwhite – PC

Amazon comes with the new Kindle Paperwhite. Because the screen 300 pixels yields per inch, the digital pages should be as weglezen as paper.

Account

Once out of the box does the Kindle just to be charged. Three dictionaries and a comprehensive user already installed. Other books should you put on yourself. Kindle is Amazon, and Amazon also want you to buy your books, preferably in the Kindle Store. The preferred size of the Kindle is Amazon’s own azw and a common format as epub is not supported. Fortunately there are enough (online) tools to drag files to convert and you can just books to the Kindle when you attach it to your PC

The offer in the Kindle Store is huge:. Millions of titles, tens of thousands are Dutch. Before you download it, but you need to create an Amazon account; this should be also for the free books that are in the store. The download itself is fast and can fit over a thousand books on the Kindle. Everything that you download through the official channels, automatically becomes a backed up in the cloud.

Easy to read

The control and the interface is clear and intuitive. Pleasant, but how do you like reading? We can be brief about this: very good. The screen (15.24 centimeters, 6 inches) is razor-sharp, even in bright sunlight. In addition, you can adjust everything: line spacing, margins, font size (daaaag reading glasses!) And font. Also, the brightness of the screen is set. The battery lasts under ideal conditions (wifi off, brightness at 10, 30 minutes of reading per day) eight weeks. A cable for charging via PC comes with it, but a mains adapter is missing. Which you should, if the Kindle lasts for example on holiday, so even buy himself. Too bad, but that does not mean that the Kindle Paperwhite is an excellent portable library which / where it is delightful to read.

Conclusion

A versatile e-reader wegleest as paper.

Pros:

Sharp images, automatic backups

Cons:.

No EPUB support; not supplied mains adapter

RRP:. € 142.34 (WiFi) / € 202.34 (WiFi + 3G)
